They are ground cherries, or husk tomatoes. I had no idea what they were either until a few years back, but they are a very prolific and easy to grow member of the tomatillo family. They are sweet and my kids love them! You can make jam out of them, too! If you have a garden I recommend giving them a try. They will self-seed year after year so i didn't even plant any this year; they just sprung up on their own and now we have them by the hundreds!
